Colts half mock draft 1.0: First three rounds
By Ryan Stano
Taylor Rapp helps address a need that the Colts have, whether they think they do or not. They really like Clayton Geathers at safety, but the man just cannot stay healthy. They have to prepare for the possibility that he will keep getting hurt. Rapp does that for them.
Rapp is a little on the smaller side, but can hit hard. He can come down and help in the running game if needed. He had 8.5 tackles for loss in his career at Washington. Rapp also had 6 career sacks, so he can blitz if he is asked to do so.
As far as his ball skills go, they are average. He does have 7 career interceptions to his credit, but sometime he can lose sight of what his team needs him to do. He also has 6 career passes defended. Rapp can certainly improve those skills thought.
Rapp would add some depth at safety and give the Colts another option back there. He would especially be needed if Geathers were to go down yet again with an injury. He is a good insurance policy to have and could develop into a good player.
This last guy is another guy that the Colts could use for depth purposes.
