With the draft approaching ever closer, it’s time to dig a little bit deeper into what the Colts might do on draft day.

The draft is an exciting time for every NFL franchise. It gives every fan base hope that they will get the next superstar player on their team. Obviously not every team will, but there are still a bunch of good players to go around in the draft, especially this draft.

The Colts are no different from every other franchise. They like to build the bulk of their roster from the draft. They like developing their players and keeping them in-house. Chris Ballard had an excellent draft last April, and there is no indication that will change later this month.

There are a multitude of directions they can go with their draft picks. They have addressed the two big areas of need in free agency, but they still need to build depth along those positions. The first three rounds of the draft should be perfect for them to do so.

This year, they have four picks in the first three rounds. They can use those picks to build a strong, young core. I have a good idea of what they should do, not what they might do. These picks will fluctuate based on what they add later in free agency.

But I do feel all of these players could help the Colts right away and develop into good players as well. This first player could help immediately on the offensive side of the ball.
