The Colts’ franchise quarterback did a better job of corralling his turnover issues last season, but he still needs to cut down on them.

Andrew Luck is a fantastic quarterback that has won all kinds of accolades throughout his career. He has done a great job taking the mantle from Peyton Manning. But there is one knock on him that he still hasn’t fixed yet. He still turns the ball over too much.

He threw 15 interceptions last season. Not all of them were his fault, as there were a couple that were a result of the ball bouncing off his receivers hands into the defender’s. But anytime you get up to that high of a number, it’s scary. That’s almost a pick every game.

Luck also fumbled the ball 6 times last season. In the past, that was a product of him holding onto the ball too long to try and make a play down the field. But this past year, most of them were a product of pressure from the defense early in the play. That is an improvement for him.

The single biggest flaw Luck still has in his game shows up in almost every game. There are about two or three throws that he has that are completely uncalled for. He will try to force the ball somewhere and he gets lucky the defender drops the interception.

Those are the plays that he has to cut down on if he wants to take his play to the next level. He can’t try to force the ball into double or triple coverage. That’s how turnovers happen, and that’s how games are lost.

Colts no longer need to get lucky. dark. Next

This is surely something Luck is going to be working on this offseason. It would be great if he could  eliminate even some of those boneheaded throws.
