The Colts met with a few free agents recently to see if they would fit with the team. Here is a rundown of who they met with, how the meeting went, and how them joining the team could potentially affect them.
With the initial free agent frenzy starting to quiet down, the Colts are starting to find some diamonds in the rough. With that being the case, they have started meeting with some other players who could help enhance their roster.
One of those players was Shane Ray. Apparently, the Colts hosted a meeting with the pass rusher to help fortify their rush off the edge in addition to Justin Houston. This was according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The #Colts may not be done adding edge help: Source said they hosted former #Broncos first-rounder Shane Ray. A day after they added pass-rusher Justin Houston.

The Colts also met with Jay Ajayi last week. He would be an interesting addition to a crowded backfield, and would most likely be a backup to Marlon Mack. According to Rapoport, the meeting went well, but no contract was signed.
Sounded like this visit, which was today, went well. Nothing imminent, but the two sides will keep talking. https://t.co/qzzmNHBkXe

Adding Ajayi would be weird. The Colts already have three backs that they use, and two of them were drafted just last year. Putting Ajayi back there too wouldn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense, even if he does have big plays ability.
Most recently, it looks like Dontrelle Inman has taken some visits to other teams. He is meeting with the Lions either today or tomorrow. Inman had emerged to become the number two receiver for the Colts after being signed off the street.
The #Lions may not be done adding players in free agency: Source said FA WR Dontrelle Inman will be on his way to Detroit later today for a visit with the #Lions tomorrow. He had 28 catches for 304 yards with the #Colts last year.

Having Inman leave would be a bit of a blow to the Colts, but not a huge one. He was reliable, but was not a big play threat at all. He also only caught 28 balls, so he wasn’t targeted frequently. But he could see his time being reduced with Devin Funchess joining and Deon Cain back from injury.
We will keep you up to date on all of the latest moves as soon as they are announced.
