Now that the first few days of free agency have happened and the craziness has slowed down, this is the time where the Colts excel in finding free agent bargains.

The first few days of free agency is always a circus. News is flying out every five minutes about a player signing with a team. Quite honestly, it’s hard to keep up with. But now that everything has slowed down, this is where the Colts will excel in finding quality guys.

Last year, the Colts made the majority of their moves in the weeks following the start of free agency. That worked out very well for them, as they were able to get some guys at good prices. Expect the same thing to happen this year. This is all a part of their plan.

Allowing the market to cool is something that is a part of Chris Ballard’s philosophy as a GM. He doesn’t want to just blindly throw money at free agents and overpay them. They are looking for good value in every deal that they make.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Colts sit tight until next week. They have time to sit back and evaluate the guys that are left on the market and consider who they want to bring in. Ballard has proven himself to be one of the best at doing that in his short tenure as GM.

Will the Colts add Eric Berry?. dark. Next

This is where teams are built for runs. Teams that can find solid players late in the free agency process are ones that end up playing in January and February. Hopefully, the Colts can continue to do that well.
