The Colts had some unexpected success in 2018. But they need to be careful to not take a step back in 2019.

There are plenty of teams that have unexpected years. They are able to win more games than anyone thought was possible. Expectations change once that season happens. Fans then expect more from that team and won’t tolerate anything less.

Focus is the key to prevent a step back. That is something the Colts need to have next season. They know that they won’t be overlooked like they were at times this past season. They will be looked at as a good team and will get everyone’s best shot.

It would be a shame if the Colts were to win less game next season. Mainly because this team is so young, expectations have been shifted to them possibly being favorites in their division. But even that will be a tall order for them to complete.

The AFC South might be the most competitive division in football next season. All four teams have the talent to compete for the division crown. But the Colts are the best team, and they should win the division as long as they keep themselves focused throughout the season.

Taking a step back next year would be disappointing because it would mean that the young team hasn’t developed enough to handle success. Success is what this organization wants to sustain. Winning games when you’re favored is part of that deal.

It will be interesting to watch the beginning of next season. That will show whether or not the Colts are ready to play with targets on their backs.
