With everyone being praised for the Colts’ success in the 2018 season, one person gets lost in the shuffle; owner Jim Irsay. He deserves some credit too.

Owners rarely get credit for their team’s success. You hear a lot of owners get criticized though for poorly managing their team and now allowing them to succeed. But when a team does succeed, owners are among the last people to get credit for the wins.

That seems to be the case in Indianapolis as well. Jim Irsay deserves credit for putting together the current state of the Colts. He was the one who hired Chris Ballard as GM and gave him all the tools he needed to put the current coaching staff and roster together.

For as much credit as he deserves for that, he deserves an equal amount of blame for the dumpster fire that was the Ryan Grigson era. Irsay was the one who hired him and made him the one to run the team and not build an offensive line to protect Andrew Luck.

But Irsay has been able to rectify his mistakes. He has a good GM who hired a good coach and assistant coaches. The players on the team right now have a chance to grow in a good environment and should contend for the next several years.

Irsay has had his personal troubles in the past, but he seems to have turned over a new leaf. Former coaches and GM’s have always said Irsay is a great man to work for and is hands off when he needs to be. He has the qualities of an ideal owner.

Hopefully the Colts’ success can continue with Irsay being the captain of the ship.
