As we all saw last season, the Colts are in desperate need of a solid number two receiver. T.Y. Hilton remains the only deep threat on this team, and the only receiver who can consistently catch the ball. The Colts need someone else who can do that.
Enter Demaryius Thomas. He was traded to Houston last season midway through the year from Denver. Thomas hurt his Achilles though and wasn’t able to finish the season. He never quite was able to make the impact in Houston that they had hoped for.
That being said, Thomas has had 1,000+ receiving yards five times in his career. He hasn’t had a good quarterback to throw to him since Peyton Manning retired, so he hasn’t been able to show his skill set as much.
But Thomas is 31 years old. We’ve seen this movie before with the Colts signing a 30+ year old receiver who was dominant with another franchise. That move with Andre Johnson did not end well for either side. Thomas could be a repeat of that, especially with the injury.
But he could help the Colts with their receiver problem. The next guy on the list could help stop other teams’ receivers.
