No matter what this year’s draft class brings, the Colts are going to be stacked for the future. And fans should be very excited about the team’s direction moving forward.

The Colts were able to defy everyone’s expectations this past year and make the playoffs. Everyone assumed that the team was in the middle of a long rebuild. But that rebuild has sped up quite a bit after the success the team had in 2018. Now they look to contend.

Even if the Colts aren’t able to make the Super Bowl net year, the future of this team looks extremely bright. The Colts have the youngest roster in the league, and that is with Adam Vinatieri still bringing that average way up. That bodes well for player development.

When all of these young players reach their prime in a couple of years, this team will be extremely scary. Having Andrew Luck, Quenton Nelson, and Darius Leonard all in their prime is a scary proposition for any opposing team to face.

But the future could also be now. After winning a playoff game in 2018, the team has some playoff experience and knows how to play in big games. That will be crucial for next season. Depending on how the draft and free agency finishes up, the Colts could be the favorite to win the division.

It will be interesting to see how the Colts use the draft and free agency to upgrade the team. Expect a strong team to be fielded not just next year, but for the next several years.
