The Colts need a second wide receiver who can do more than what they got out of Ryan Grant. Golden Tate would be that guy. He can be reliable over the middle and make catches in critical situations. He would be an upgrade over everyone but T.Y. Hilton.

Tate will be 30 years old though. That limits how effective he could possibly be in a long-term deal. But Tate could be the best receiver in the market this season. Because of that, he still might be able to leverage a longer term deal with a large money amount.

Having a true number two receiver would allow the Colts to have more flexibility with their play calling and make them much more dangerous on offense. This would be the ideal signing if the Colts don’t end up trading for Antonio Brown, which probably won’t happen anyway.

Next on the list is someone to make opposing quarterbacks miserable.
