After the conclusion of the one o’clock games, there was some clarity on the playoff front in the AFC. The Colts no longer have a chance to win the division.
Indianapolis came into today with a hope to win the AFC South. That is no longer a chance for that after the 1pm games have finished. Houston has officially won the AFC South, so the only way the Colts can make the playoffs is with the 6th seed.
The winner of the Sunday night game will be the sixth seed. That is confirmed now. Both teams were going to play hard regardless, but now they know that if they make the playoffs they will have to play all road games.
The weather is something to be watched for the game tonight as well. It is supposed to rain pretty much all game long. That would lead you to believe that whoever can run the ball more effectively has the upper hand. Normally, that would be an advantage for Tennessee.
Indianapolis can also run it though. Their defense has also done a good job of stopping the run recently too. If they can continue to do both of those things, they will walk out of Nashville with a victory and a playoff berth in hand. If they can’t they won’t. It’s that simple in this one.
No matter who wins this game, they will be the underdog the whole way in the playoffs as the 6th seed. But either team would be very hot and a scary team to face.
