AFC South Roundup: Colts gaining momentum
By Ryan Stano
This week was crucial in the AFC South, as now two teams are tied at the bottom of the standings. Here is how each team in the division did this week.
The Colts knew they had to win on Sunday. They did just that, beating the Raiders 42-28. They had to beat Oakland because they were a bad team, and the Colts need to beat bad teams. But they also needed to win to stay in the divisional hunt.
They knew that before their game because Houston won in dominating fashion on Thursday night. They swallowed up the Dolphins and increased their winning streak to five in a row. But they did lose wide receiver Will Fuller to a torn ACL. They are two games up in the division at 5-3, and go to Denver next week.
Tennessee had a bye week after losing to the Chargers in London 20-19 last week. They are using that bye week to fix their offense, which has been a big problem in recent weeks. They play in Dallas next week on Monday Night Football.
Jacksonville continues to be a mess. They lost in London to the Eagles this week. They also had four players arrested over there. The Jaguars just continue to unravel, and it looks like their hold on the division is coming to an end. They too have a bye week, as the Colts will face them after having a bye of their own.
The division is still up for grabs. The Colts are still only two games back, so they definitely have a chance. They need some help though. They need Houston to start losing some games. Unfortunately, their schedule isn’t too tough down the stretch.
Any team can come out on top of this division. There is still a lot of football left to be played.
