Colts are still playing for something

The Colts are only 2-5, but the team is still in contention for real things. They are still playing for something.

You wouldn’t think that a team that has started out 2-5 would still have something to play for. Normally you would be right in thinking that. But that is not the case with this Colts team. This team still has something to play for.

The Colts still have a way to make the playoffs. They are only two games back in the division. They also have a very easy schedule for the next few games. If they can win those games, they are right back in the thick of things. They can still make a run.

Winning those games is easier said than done however. The Colts have had issues closing out games against all kinds of opponents, so winning against perceived bad teams is not a done deal. They still have to play a complete football game if they want to win these games.

Now winning those games doesn’t guarantee anything. They still need some help from the other teams in the division. They need Houston to slow their roll so they can catch up. It would be unrealistic to expect the Colts to win the remainder of their games.

They will have a bye week after the game against the Raiders, so that will help them too. They can use that week to get healthy and get some key players back for the stretch run. The team needs to focus on playing complete games until then.

The good news is the team is coming off their best game of the season. They know that they have to focus for the rest of their games as well. Keeping that focus is the key to winning enough to sneak into the playoffs.
