Colts vs. Bills: A bettor’s guide
By Ryan Stano
The Colts play the Bills in one of the league’s least glamorous matchups. But if you’re looking to do some legal sports betting, here is what Vegas has to say about the game.
The Colts and the Bills have won a combined 3 games this season. Neither team has shown consistency in play. Both teams are dealing with injuries as well. If you’re looking to bet on this game, the lines might surprise you.
As of right now, the Colts are a 7.5 point favorite at home. That is a massive spread for a team who has only won one game. Part of this may be due to the fact that Derek Anderson is starting at quarterback for the Bills, but that is still a wide margin to be favored by.
That being said, I would take the under. If the Colts win, it’ll be by less than a touchdown. You just can’t watch any of their previous games and say that you trust them in any capacity to win, let alone cover a spread. Taking the points seems like the prudent play.
The over/under for this game is 43. That is actually a fairly low number for this game. This is probably due to the lack of the Bills being able to have a competent offense even when they have a starting quarterback out there.
I would actually take the over on this. The Bills might score some points on defense, and the Colts offense should be able to move the ball fairly well too. But a dumb turnover might help the Bills get some easy points. The over seems safer to me.
As always, check the most updated lines before you make any bets. And bet with your head and not your heart. But if you’re a Colts fan, your heart might be right in this case too.
