A Colts win tonight could turn their season around
The Colts are not expected to win tonight’s game against the Patriots. But if they do, it could change the entire dynamic of their season.
The Colts face a tough challenge tonight. They play the New England Patriots in Foxboro. They do so without 7 players, and it could be more by game time. The Patriots are the defending AFC champs. Nothing says the Colts should win this game. But what if they did?
What if, without T.Y. Hilton, Marlon Mack, and Jack Doyle the Colts won this game? What if they started a rookie who played guard in college at right tackle and won the game? That would change everything about where the Colts’ season is headed.
They would then move to 2-3. Not a good record. But that one win, with so many people out, it would give the team so much confidence. It would make them think that they could beat anyone, anywhere, at any time, with any players they trot out there.
That’s the type of confidence that can change a franchise. That could get the Colts back to where they thought they would be at the beginning of the year; competitive for the division crown. They would still have work to do, but it would be a heck of a good first step.
The Colts need something like this to happen this season. Otherwise it’s just another season of Andrew Luck‘s prime wasted. They are in the midst of a rebuild, but the thought was the rebuild was further along than it currently is.
An upset would be great for the organization and its fans. But don’t hold out hope for it. Or do. That’s why it’s called an upset.
