AFC South Roundup: Colts now in dead last
By Ryan Stano
The Colts lost in excruciating fashion yesterday, losing 37-34 in overtime. The worst part about it was losing to a division rival. That loss puts them in last place in the AFC South.
Yesterday was anything but ideal for the Colts. They lost to the Texans 37-34 in a game they should have walked out of with no worse than a tie. That loss puts them in the cellar of the division, as their 1-3 record is good for last place.
The Texans are also 1-3, but they now hold the tiebreaker over the Colts because of yesterday’s victory. That win puts an end to an ugly slide, as they had lost their last 9 games dating back to last season. They face the Cowboys Sunday night in their next game.
The Jaguars had no issues with the Jets as they won 31-12. They won this game even with Leonard Fournette getting hurt again. Winning this game gives them a 3-1 record on the season and they sit in second place in the division. They go to Kansas City next week.
Tennessee is currently in first place after a gripping overtime victory against the Eagles. Corey Davis’ last second catch gives the Titans first place due to a tie-breaking victory over the Jaguars. They seem to look strong in Mike Vrabel’s first year as head coach. They should get another victory next week as they take on the Bills.
The Colts meanwhile have a short week. They will be in New England Thursday night. This game could get ugly. They will be trying to avoid a disastrous 1-5 start. New England dismantled the Dolphins yesterday, so they are coming in playing better.
There is still 3/4 of the season to play, but the Colts can’t continue to lose games if they want to salvage this season.
