The Colts have a key player who is listed as questionable on the injury report. If he doesn’t play, the Colts need to protect its secondary.

Clayton Geathers is currently listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. He was off and on the practice field all week long. The Colts understand how valuable of a play maker he is. He is one of the enforcers that Indy has on their team.

Matthias Farley is a very capable backup. If he has to play, the Colts should still feel okay. However, Geathers does have the propensity to create turnovers and have big plays when the team needs it. If Geathers doesn’t play, the Colts need to protect their secondary.

What I mean by that is Indianapolis need to make tackles in the running game before the back reaches the second level. Geathers is that force who lays some wood when a back squirts through to the secondary. Farley doesn’t quite have the same pop.

The Indy defensive line will also need to get pressure on the quarterback. Putting pressure on the quarterback allows the secondary some breaks. Darius Leonard will also need to keep playing at the high level he has been playing at all year long.

The secondary has been a pleasant surprise for Indianapolis so far this year. Kenny Moore has had a good year and has stepped up as the Colts’ number one corner. Although Malik Hooker hasn’t had the big plays like he had last year, the secondary as a whole has been better than expected.

It will be interesting to see if Geathers plays or not. The Colts would obviously like to have him out there. But if he’s not, they should have a gameplan to replace him.
