The Colts are being cautious with a lot of players who are injured. But even so, a frightening amount of players were absent from the practice field today.

The Colts had 7 inactive players last week in Philly. That number could grow this week if today’s injury report is any indication. Several players were listed as out for the first practice of the week. Granted it is early in the week, but it doesn’t look good.

A total of nine players didn’t practice on Wednesday. Anthony Castonzo was once again held out. He is still dealing with that hamstring issue. Neither starting safety practiced, as Clayton Geathers has a knee, and Malik Hooker was out with hip/groin.

If either one of those injuries linger, it’s a huge problem. Both had injury problems last year and both are valued members of the secondary. Having either one of them out for even one week would be a big loss for this team.

Eric Ebron also didn’t practice. He has a shoulder/knee injury. Jack Doyle also did not practice. He is still out with his hip injury. If both tight ends are out, that would be very bad. Doyle looks like he is going to be out a few weeks, so they can’t afford to lose Ebron too.

In all, 8 players did not practice because of injury. Tarell Basham‘s absence was not injury related. The Colts listed their full injury report on their Twitter account.

Seeing that many players out is very concerning. Even seeing Andrew Luck on there is a problem. He practiced in full, but you still do not want to see his name anywhere near the injury report after the last couple of years.

Hopefully for Colts fans this list gets trimmed down by the end of the week. Having this many key players out could spell doom for them against Houston on Sunday.
