The Colts were missing a few key players in the first game on Sunday. But they might be getting them back for week 2.

Anthony Castonzo and Marlon Mack didn’t play in the season opener on Sunday. The Colts missed both players badly. They couldn’t run the ball in the second half and they had issues protecting Andrew Luck at times. But they could be getting both players back for this week.

Castonzo started practicing on a limited basis last week. But he didn’t take part in anything in training camp or in the offseason. He has been dealing with a hamstring issue and hopefully he can be healthy for wee 2.

Marlon Mack has also been dealing with a hamstring injury. He suffered this during the first preseason game of the season. He wasn’t able to go this past week after returning to practice late last week. The Colts want to make sure they are cautious with him though.

Based on what Frank Reich has said in press conferences, there is a good chance that both players play in Washington. They should be healthy enough to play and be effective. The Colts need Castonzo back more than Mack because he protects Luck’s blindside.

Injuries have been a big story for the Colts the last couple of years. The good news is that they didn’t suffer any big ones in the opener against Cincinnati. They should come into week 2 relatively healthy for the first time in a long time.

Castonzo could show some rust out there. The lack of work he has gotten is a concern. He still hasn’t seen the game at full speed this year. But he is the best lineman the Colts have and they need him out there even at 90% health.

We should get an update on both injuries throughout the week as practices happen.
