The Colts are still preparing for their first game of the season on Sunday. They are battling some injuries though. Here is the latest reports on those injuries.
This week has been a nervous one around Indianapolis. A few key players have been struggling with injuries leading up to the season opener on Sunday. But it looks like there may be some good news, although nothing is definitive yet.
Anthony Castonzo has been nursing a hamstring for the last six weeks or so. He finally returned to practice on Wednesday, although on a limited basis. He also practiced yesterday and today. There is hope that he could play on Sunday. Andrew Luck desperately needs his left tackle to start.
Frank Reich isn’t saying much about his availability for Sunday however. He wants to keep it a mystery up until kickoff on who is going to start at that position. I would personally be surprised if Castonzo is out there come Sunday. They want to be extremely cautious with him.
Marlon Mack returned to practice yesterday as well. He did so on a limited basis as well. There is almost no chance Mack plays, however he is listed as questionable for Sunday. He has been out since the first preseason game when he hurt his hamstring. Jordan Wilkins will probably get the start instead of Mack while he continues to heal.
Darius Leonard has only had limited practice this week as well. He’s listed on the injury report as having a an ankle and a chest injury. He should start this weekend though and should be good to go in his first NFL game.
The Colts obviously want all of the guys listed on the injury report to be healthy. But they need some of them to get healthy quickly. They are key guys on a very young team.
