By Ryan Stano
The Colts are firmly in training camp, and a lot of players are eager to show what they can bring to the team. So far, the rookies are one group who have impressed.
The Colts have had a bunch of players who have impressed early on in training camp. Some of their best performers early on have been the rookies. There are some rookies who are looking to have some serious playing time, and they are trying to prove it.
Quenton Nelson is one of those rookies. Everyone knew that he would be really good and he has shown that so far. He might end up being the best rookie in the 2018 draft class. He also has some competition in being the rookie who impacts the Colts the most.
Darius Leonard has a lot of people excited. The second round pick has shown that he can make the transition from FCS to the NFL. He already has picked off Andrew Luck during a scrimmage, and has also shown the ability to play the pass well.
Deon Cain has also looked good. According to reports out of camp, the receiver has been making some ridiculous catches. He also has been making the easy catches with great consistency. It’s not always the spectacular catches that matter, it’s those easy ones that help get first downs.
Nyheim Hines has also been an early standout. Hines has been doing a good job moving all over the field and showcasing the diverse talents that he has. He is showing that he can be a threat on the receiving end as well the on the ground.
The Colts hope that all of these rookies continue to impress and progress into big parts of the team moving forward.
