With the Colts changing defensive schemes, some of the linebackers are moving to the defensive line. With that in mind, who is the best linebacker on the roster?

The Colts are switching from a 3-4 base defense to a 4-3 base. With that, some outside linebackers are moving to defensive end. Most of the rush linebackers are moving to that spot to more effectively rush the passer. So who does that leave as the best Colts linebacker?

There aren’t a lot of the linebackers left. Anthony Walker is a player who was hurt most of last season, so he didn’t get a chance to show what he can do. The young linebacker should get a better chance to showcase his skills next season.

Jeremiah George played well in spurts last season as well. He will probably end up taking one of the three linebackers spots as a starter. But he still has things to work on as well. But he is a strong guy who can help stop the run up the middle.

Darius Leonard could get a chance to compete for a starting spot as well. The rookie clearly impressed the Colts scouts, and will get a big look in preseason to see if he is up to the task. It would be a surprise to see him start early in the year though.

The best linebacker on the roster has to be Antonio Morrison. He is the only returning starter in that linebacking corp, and played well in doing so. He has a slight problem of missing some tackles, but will only get better with experience. Every Colts linebacker is young and can use some time to develop.

The best case scenario for the Colts is that everyone gets a chance to play in the starting role throughout the season. Morrison will carry the load until then.
