The Colts are still waiting on the health of Andrew Luck. It was revealed today that he was not at OTA’s instead working out on his own.
Andrew Luck is still not healthy. He is still not throwing a football, and is still trying to strengthen his shoulder. He was not out with the team today, and everyone took notice. It turns out he is working out by himself.
Frank Reich said that it was decided that it would be a better use of Luck’s time to work out on his own instead of watching practice. Luck hasn’t been able to do any sort of throwing of a football, so this explanation makes sense.
But should fans be concerned about Luck’s health? He hasn’t progressed to the level of throwing an NFL sized football yet. That was partially expected thought, as GM Chris Ballard said that he wouldn’t be throwing again until training camp time.
Ballard also said at that time that Luck would have no restrictions entering training camp. That might not be the case anymore. If it is taking Luck this long to gather the strength in his shoulder to throw, there might be restrictions on him even in July into August.
The bigger question is whether this timeline matters at all right now. The Colts are still months away from playing their first game. Luck should be healthy by then by all accounts. He also should be as effective as he was before the injury.

Colts fans will have to wait and see what happens with this situation. No one truly knows how his shoulder will respond to the grind of being an elite NFL quarterback after surgery. Hopefully, he shows up completely healthy and effective.
