What Colts Fans can Expect from Frank Reich

Frank Reich was introduced as the Colts head coach today, and he said plenty of things in his press conference that should excite Colts fans.

Frank Reich was introduced as head coach of the Colts today. The organization set up a press conference for 3:30 today to introduce him. Reich said plenty of things that should get Colts fans excited for the future of the team.

Reich talked about a plethora of things that Colts fans wanted to know about. He talked about how the offense will run, what his philosophy as a coach will be, and his goals moving forward with the team. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Reich said he will call the plays on offense. He has no previous playcalling experience, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
  • Reich said the offense will use quite a bit of no huddle concepts. He wants to change the tempo as necessary. He also noted that they will run multiple formations to run the same plays out of so the defense doesn’t know it is coming.
  • Some of his assistant coaches were already picked out for him, and that was just fine. Reich said it was one of the things he liked because it meant that the organization was one of integrity.
  • As far as the defense goes, Reich said there will be multiple packages and formations run. It will not be strictly a base 4-3.
  • Reich said that the update that GM Chris Ballard gave fans last week in his press conference is the same one he got.

This press conference gave Colts fans an insight on the type of man Reich is as well. He talked about how the team was going to one of integrity, toughness, and togetherness. He expects the team to steadily improve, and spoke of having full confidence in all of his assistants. Hopefully, this team has a bright future under his watch.
