After a few reports said McDaniels was having second thoughts regarding the Colts job, Colts fans were worried. But all those worries can be put to rest.

The Indianapolis Colts finally have a new head coach. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has officially accepted the head coaching job for the Colts. This will be his second stint as a head coach in the NFL. He previously coached the Denver Broncos.

McDaniels couldn’t be officially hired until after the Patriots season was over. He had been linked to the Colts job for weeks. There were reports that McDaniels hadn’t officially told the Patriots he was leaving and might be thinking of staying in New England. He wouldn’t answer any questions about it in the aftermath of the Super Bowl on Sunday.

The Colts put all of that to rest Tuesday morning. They officially announced the hiring of McDaniels on their twitter account.

With this announcement, the next news Colts fans will be waiting for will be the hiring of coordinators. It remains to be seen if McDaniels will retain the current coordinators or hire his own. He has plenty of work to do, and only a short turn around to do so after the Super Bowl.
