Josh McDaniels is expected to become the next Colts head coach, but he will reportedly meet with the Indianapolis front office again before they make it official.

It has been reported that the Colts will be hiring Josh McDaniels to succeed Chuck Pagano, but there has been a couple of bumps along the road of the hiring process.

The Titans emerged as a strong competitor to hire McDaniels after they fired Mike Mularkey, but the Colts were already near completion of a deal to bring McDaniels to Indianapolis and Tennessee wouldn’t have been able to interview him until after the Super Bowl due to NFL rules.

The Colts are able to interview McDaniels again before the Super Bowl because they’ve already interviewed him once.

The Titans filled their coaching vacancy with Mike Vrabel, who was a finalist for the job in Indianapolis, and the rest of the head coaching jobs around the NFL are reportedly taken as well.

After all of these events, it has become a foregone conclusion that Josh McDaniels will be the head coach in Indianapolis in 2018. While the Colts have scheduled a second interview with McDaniels, it will likely be a meeting where the franchise will make plans on how to introduce their new head coach after the Super Bowl is over.

We’ve already taken a look at what the Colts offense will look like under McDaniels, if he can find success after leaving Bill Belichick, and how he will mesh with the franchise quarterback Andrew Luck.
