Update 6:56 PM EST: Former Seattle Seahawks tight end Brandon Williams has signed with the Indianapolis Colts following a recent free agent visit with the team:

Previous Report:

According to CBS Sports Jason La Canfora, Seattle Seahawks tight end Brandon Williams is visiting the Indianapolis Colts.

The 6’3″, 247 pound tight end is a potential depth option at the position for the Colts:

Originally signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2013, the 29 year old tight end has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and most recently, the Seattle Seahawks organization.

The 4th-year veteran has 6 career receptions for 80 total receiving yards in 45 career games (1 start).

With the Colts re-signing Jack Doyle, while trading Dwayne Allen, the team could use some additional depth at the position. Right now, exclusive rights free agent Erik Swoope is expected to be the 2nd tight end in the team’s offense–barring no other significant additions.

Williams is already 29 years old and only has 6 career receptions, but maybe there’s something that intrigues new Colts general manager Chris Ballard regarding the so far seldom utilized tight end.

If nothing else, he’d compete for the Colts 3rd-string tight end spot and provide special teams contributions–if he’d even make the team’s final 53-man roster.
