Jordan Todman, Kick Returner/Running Back

Having made the 53-man roster due to his special teams prowess, Colts backup running back Jordan Todman should be re-signed given his special ability as a kick returner.

The 4-year veteran running back returned 16 kickoffs for the Colts this past season, averaging 29.9 yards per kick return–including a 99-yard touchdown return against the Green Bay Packers in Week which earned him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

As the team’s 3rd-string running back, a player has to be able to contribute on special teams, which Todman clearly does–even as a special teams gunner on Colts kickoffs.

The 5’10”, 200 pound running back isn’t too shabby carrying the football either, as Todman averaged 6.6 yards per carry this past season–albeit on just 9 carries.

Given his relatively low cost, yet valuable special teams ability, Todman seems like an easy choice to re-sign for the Colts–regardless of whether primary special teams returnman Quan Bray returns or not.
