According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan, the Indianapolis Colts worked out former Tennessee Titans running back David Cobb on Tuesday:

Originally a 5th round pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2015, the 5’11”, 229 pound running back out of Minnesota has rushed for 146 career rushing yards on 52 carries (2.8 ypc avg) and a touchdown in 7 career games (1 start)–all last season.

In fact, his career high rushing game of 73 rushing yards and his only rushing touchdown actually came against the Colts in last year’s season finale.

Cobb missed the first half of his rookie season with the Titans due to a calf injury and was largely ineffective carrying the football upon his return–potentially hampered by the prior injury.

With just 8 carries for 28 total rushing yards in 2 preseason games, Cobb was part of the Titans’ 75-man roster cuts in late August and was subsequently signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad in early September before being released near mid-October.

The former Minnesota Golden Gophers standout had 563 career carries for 2,896 total rushing yards–the 7th rushing yards most all-time in program history for a 5.1 ypc avg and 20 rushing touchdowns in his 4-year collegiate career. He was named 2nd-Team All-Big Ten during his senior season.

Of course, the Colts could simply be kicking the tires on additional running back depth–should the need arise, as the team has been using backup veteran running back Robert Turbin and rookie Josh Ferguson behind starter Frank Gore–with both Turbin and Ferguson largely playing on 3rd down.

Update (12:14 PM EST): According to Howard Balzer, the Colts also worked out a handful of other players including former tight end Darion Griswold:
