Colts Sign RB Chase Price and ILB Anthony Sarao
The Indianapolis Colts announced on Thursday that the team has signed a pair of undrafted rookie free agents, running back Chase Price and inside linebacker Anthony Sarao.
Having tried out for the Colts during their recent rookie mini-camp, the 5’8″, 200 pound Price recently rushed for 1,008 rushing yards on 190 carries (5.3 ypc avg) and 6 rushing touchdowns during his senior season with San Diego State in 2015.
The former Aztecs standout finished his collegiate career with 1,874 rushing yards on 377 carries (4.97 ypc avg) and 12 rushing touchdowns, as well as 34 receptions for 247 receiving yards and a touchdown reception in 50 career games.
Otherwise, the 5’11”, 233 pound Sarao was a senior captain and had a rock solid swan song for USC, recording 59 total tackles including 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks even after fracturing his foot in the team’s spring practices. Sarao was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Colts following this year’s draft and participated in the team’s recent rookie mini-camp before being waived shortly thereafter.
In his junior season, Sarao had 74 tackles, 1 sack, 3 passes defensed, and 2 interceptions including a touchdown return, making all 13 starts. He won USC’s Co-Lifter of the Year Award.
Sarao finished his Trojans career with 217 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 5 passes defensed and 2 interceptions (1 returned for a touchdown) in 54 games (34 starts).
It comes just a day after the Colts waived inside linebacker Amarlo Herrera and injured running back Abou Toure, so both Sarao and Price will replace those players at those positions respectively.
