1. Who Will Play the Slot Corner?

Last year was a rough season for Colts’ corner Darius Butler. Injuries forced the 30-year-old veteran corner to play outside. It didn’t go well. Butler struggled as the number two corner and is better suited for the slot. He also only recorded one interception in a season to forget.

Also don’t forget Colts’ 2015 third round pick D’Joun Smith. While Smith has tons of potential in the slot, he needs to not only stay healthy, but also needs to justify the Colts’ selection of him 65th overall in last year’s third round.

Smith has loads of potential. At Florida Atlantic in 2014, Smith was selected to second-team All-Conference USA, was an honorable mention kick returner and team defensive MVP. He was invited to 2015 Senior Bowl. Smith also hauled in seven interceptions in 2013.

It will be an interesting battle to watch in training camp. If Smith does indeed beat out Butler, this year might be the last one for Butler in Indianapolis–who’s in a contract year.
