Free Safety: Mike Adams, T.J. Green
Vontae Davis isn’t the only member of the Colts secondary coming off consecutive Pro Bowl appearances, as veteran safety Mike Adams has joined him in that regard. The 13-year veteran has enjoyed a career renaissance since being signed by the Colts two seasons ago, aging like a fine wine.
What Adams lacks in speed, he makes up for it by his football smarts at the position, always seemingly being at the right place at the right time with 10 total interceptions over the past two seasons.
The 35 year old is likely grooming his long-term successor, T.J. Green, who was a 2nd round pick of the Colts at safety in this year’s draft. While the former converted Clemson wide receiver is still a bit raw at safety, he offers impressive range and ball skills for the position. Green could see time in nickel packages and should be an immediate contributor on special teams.
