Right Outside Linebacker: Robert Mathis, Trent Cole

As the Colts franchise’s career sack leader with 118 career sacks, Robert Mathis is entering his 14th season with the Horseshoe–once again returning as a starter. The 35 year old is no longer the dominant pass rusher of just a few seasons ago, but it appears there’s still some gas left in the veteran’s tank.

While Mathis started last season slow–having undergone multiple offseason surgeries on his Achilles, he showed signs of life as the year progressed. Specifically, he had 3 sacks in the team’s final 3 games.

Behind Mathis is another veteran pass rusher, Trent Cole, who’s looking to prove he can still get after the quarterback in his own right. The 33 year old only had 3 sacks this past season, but was a little better rushing the passer than that number actually indicates. Still, he’ll look to increase his sack output after a fairly quiet debut season with the Colts in order to show he still has something left.
