Right Tackle: Joe Reitz, Denzelle Good
This could be perhaps the best positional competition for the Colts this offseason, as both Joe Reitz and Denzelle Good appear to be competent candidates for the team’s starting right tackle job.
The versatile 6-year veteran Reitz made 14 starts for the Colts last season and performed admirably when starting at right tackle. The 30 year old has been a solid starting tackle for the Colts when called upon in relief and appears to be the early favorite for the job given his proven experience.
However, the long-term future of the position may ultimately be mammoth-sized 6’6″, 340 pound offensive tackle Good, who’s blessed with quick feet to go along with his obvious massive stature.
Last season’s 7th round pick out of Mars Hill made 4 emergency starts for the Colts at right tackle and held his own, even if Good’s still a bit of a project at the position.
The loser of this starting right tackle competition could ultimately slide over to play alongside the winner, only starting at right guard instead. Something that the Colts have already contemplated this offseason.
