Indianapolis Colts hold local Pro Day for NFL prospects
By Evan Reller
As NFL prospects across the country hold their Pro Days, the Indianapolis Colts brought in a number of players from around the state for a local Pro Day.
The Colts hosted 17 potential NFL players on Wednesday for pre-draft workouts. These were all players who played in Indiana during high school or college. The event lets the Colts brass get a good look at some of the local talent and to make sure they don’t miss out on someone from their own backyard.
The Colts are no strangers to the talent that has grown up in their backyard. Lineman Joe Reitz went to Fishers High School while tight end Jack Doyle went to Cathedral.
Over at Colts.com, Kevin Bowen spoke with Todd Vasvari, the Assistant Director of College Scouting, about today’s event.
"“We felt like this was our best Pro Day yet,” Vasvari said. “We had potentially four guys that are going to get drafted and a number of other guys who could be signed as free agents. I think that’s a testament to the high school coaches in the area and the talent at the high schools.”“It’s just a great opportunity for us to take one more look at these guys,” Vasvari said. “We evaluated them all in the fall. Now we can see how they move athletically, how they compete. It’s one more chance for them to come out and prove to us what they can do. It’s another job interview essentially.”"
