Dwight Lowery

Should he be re-signed: Maybe yes?

This depends a lot on where the Colts think Clayton Geathers is in his development. Is Geathers ready to start and be an impact player? He certainly showed flashes last season, and Lowery was a very good cheap rental. The Colts have the option to offer Lowery a short term contract (not unlike what they did with Mike Adams) and it won’t cost all that much.

PFF actually gave Lowery a higher grade than Adams this season too (although it was one of the lower ones of his career). He also made their top 10 free agent safeties list as well. Considering he replaced LaRon Landry, the bar wasn’t exactly all that high.

The Colts could easily bring Lowery back for a short term deal, and have him play for the starting spot with Geathers in the preseason. It never hurts to have an experienced backup and he might prove to be the better option going forward.
