Adam Vinatieri

Should he be re-signed: Not even a question, yes.

The only questions with Vinatieri was whether or not he wanted to play another season at 43 years old. The fact that all he has to do is kick field goals makes this decision a lot easier. Perhaps the best move the Colts ever made was having Pat McAfee take over punting duties (it is surprising more teams don’t do this), which keeps Vinatieri off the field on dangerous kickoffs. It also helps that McAfee has a howitzer surgically attached to his hip.

Vinatieri is one of the most clutch kickers in the league and all the kicking woes across the league last year are enough for the Colts to practically beg him to return. He made $2.75 million last season and will probably get something in that neighborhood again. The only question will be the length of the contract, and even if the Colts go year to year with him it wouldn’t be a bad thing.
