Originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of NCAA Division III’s California Lutheran University in 2013, Rogers has also spent time with the AFL’s Portland Thunder and CFL’s Ottawa Redbacks.
The 6’3″, 210 pound wideout is coming off an impressive season with the Stampeders, in which he caught 87 receptions for 1,448 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.
Here are some highlights for your viewing pleasure:
It’s not the first workout that Rogers has had recently either, as he’s also worked out with the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Diego Chargers among other NFL teams.
Of course, for the Colts, signing a former CFL star wide receiver isn’t exactly unprecedented, as the team signed wideout Duron Carter of the Montreal Alouettes just last offseason.
While Carter is now a free agent–having spent this past season on the Colts practice squad, the Colts clearly aren’t afraid of scouring other football leagues for potential talent.
In fact, the team just signed pass rusher Eze Obiora of the IFL’s Sioux Falls Storm to a reserve/future contract last week.
Rogers joins a list of former CFL standouts that the Colts have signed that includes ILB Jerrell Freeman, ILB Henoc Muamba, WR Duron Carter, and OG Ben Heenan.
As of now, no deal has been reported between the Colts and Rogers, but we’ll be sure to provide any updates if the situation evolves.
