Chuck-Stay? No Decision Will Be Made on Chuck Pagano’s Future During ‘Black Monday’
Despite meeting with owner Jim Irsay today, a decision will not be announced by the Indianapolis Colts on head coach Chuck Pagano‘s future with the team on Monday:
Even though it seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Pagano would receive the axe on the NFL’s infamous “Black Monday”–where a number of head coaches routinely get terminated, the Colts head coach continues to “chop wood”.
At least for now.
While Pagano could still ultimately be dismissed, this is at least positive news for his Colts future. Because it means that a decision has yet to be made, and that Irsay is clearly still deliberating–meaning Pagano still has a chance to remain head coach.
Pagano said last week that he’d “fight his ass off” to keep his job. Perhaps, yesterday’s improbable victory against the Tennessee Titans, as well as the players’ overall plea of support for Pagano have possible caused Irsay to re-evaluate his head coach’s future.
That being said, this has been a highly unusual process by the Colts, as it had been widely reported that Pagano’s future had been determined weeks ago. The fact that the Colts still are possibly undecided on Pagano, at the 11th hour–shows that the team is clearly a bit torn on his future.
