Damarious Randall, Cornerback/Safety: Green Bay Packers

Pick: 1st Round, Pick #30

Height/Weight: 5’11”, 196 pounds

College: Arizona State

Summary:

For the Green Bay Packers secondary, Damarious Randall has proven to be a reliable rookie cornerback. Having appeared in 13 games for the Packers including 8 starts, Randall has 51 tackles and 3 interceptions on the season. His 3 interceptions are 2nd among all rookie defensive players.

Per ProFootballFocus (subscription), Randall has received a +1.7 grade overall and is their 56th best rated cornerback, which isn’t bad for one of the toughest positions to play in the NFL.

Regarding the Colts, the team could theoretically have used Randall at either cornerback or safety.

At cornerback, the defense has struggled to find another reliable defensive back to pair with Vontae Davis on the outside whether it’s because of inconsistency or injury to incumbent starter Greg Toler.

While at safety, the Colts could use an infusion of young talent, as while both Mike Adams and Dwight Lowery have both done solid jobs starting–they are only short-term solutions to the position. The team could really use a true difference-maker for the defense’s long-term future.
