While Harrison was the more talented receiver, Wayne definitely meant more to the franchise as a whole. Wayne was an exceptional receiver who was able to have great seasons with two different QBs, proving he wasn’t just a product of Manning’s brilliance.
Wayne ranks seventh all-time in receptions in the NFL. He’s one of just 12 players with over 1,000 receptions (and just 32 behind Harrison). Wayne helped bridge the gap on offense between the Manning and Luck eras and became even more of a fan favorite for doing so. Wayne’s 2012 season is the second best in his career, and there is no telling where Luck would be without him as a safety valve his rookie year.
There is no question that Wayne deserves to be in the Colts Ring of Honor but he should also end up in Canton in the Hall of Fame in the next decade.
