Backed-up: Marvin Harrison & Reggie Wayne-2003-2006

Now, I don’t know if Stokley could be considered a “backup” as he was the main slot guy from 2003-2006. However, he was technically the third option on pass plays, which I would say categorizes him as a backup. In 2005, Stokley caught 68 balls for 1077 yards and 10 touchdowns, all career highs. This also made him Peyton Manning‘s “new favorite target”.

Stokley never saw success like that again in his tenure with the Colts, or with any other team for the matter. For Stokley you shouldn’t take the word backup too seriously. He was just the tertiary guy in the pass game on a loaded Colts offense, so he can be put in this category.
