The Indianapolis Colts report to training camp in just over a week. The team has a number of interesting position battles that are sure to play out while the team is in Anderson, Ind. for the first couple weeks of August.

One of those positions will be backup running back. The Colts managed to improve their running game during the offseason just by way of cutting Trent Richardson, who managed to single handedly kill drives. The Colts saw their offensive efficiency drop after Ahmad Bradshaw went down with his inevitable season ending injury.

The Colts were 27th in rushing efficiency last season and were 22nd in rushing yardage. It also doesn’t help that Andrew Luck had 273 of the team’s 1,612 rushing yards.

The Colts managed to snag one of the most consistent backs in the NFL in free agency by signing Frank Gore away from the Eagles. Gore has the starting spot locked up, but at 32 years old he can’t take the majority of the snaps.

Thankfully the Colts have a number of intriguing options backing Gore up.
