The Indianapolis Colts waived inside linebacker Shawn Loiseau on Friday. Loiseau was a fringe player who might have been able to find his way to the roster via specials teams but would have been fairly low on the ILB depth chart.

From the official release on Colts.com.

"Loiseau, 6-0, 239 pounds, most recently signed with the Colts as a free agent on August 3, 2014. He spent the entire 2014 season on the team’s Injured Reserve list. Loiseau played in five games with the LA Kiss of the Arena Football League during the 2014 season and recorded 23 tackles, including four for loss, 1.0 sack, two passes defensed and one safety. In 2013, he spent time on the Colts training camp roster before being waived. Loiseau  was originally signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Merrimack on May 14, 2012. He was then signed to the Colts practice squad on November 13."

Loiseau went to Merrimack College, where he was one of the most decorated athletes in school history. He was the first player to ever sign a contract in the NFL and he set the school record for tackles in a season with 133 in 2010. He was twice a Division II All-American.

With the additions of Nate Irving and rookie Amarlo Herrera to the linebacking corps, it was unlikely that Loiseau would have made the final roster.
