Colts Linkstorm: Rookie Minicamp Underway and DeflateGate

The Indianapolis Colts are keeping busy during the offseason. Like all the other teams in the NFL, the Colts will be holding their rookie mini-camp this weekend. This offers the team a chance to see what they have from the young 2015 class and start familiarizing the players with their respective playbooks.

The Colts have also been able to revel in privacy after the findings of the so-called DeflateGate controversy were released earlier this week in the Wells Report. While the team has offered no comment on the issue, the fans (and a few local sports reporters) are vindicated that their archrival has once again been caught cheating.

Here are some of the best stories from around the Colts world:

Colts.com has offered up the closest look at the rookies. You can check out Kevin Bowen’s Day One Notebook from the rookie mini-camp and his primer on all the undrafted free agents the team signed this week.

Bucky Brooks over at NFL.com gave the Colts a “C” grade for this draft class. He doesn’t think the team got enough young players who can make an impact right away.

Chris Wessling, also at NFL.com, wonders whether or not T.Y. Hilton is conflicted by the Phillip Dorsett pick in the first round. Hilton’s comments on the situation certainly didn’t paint a picture of acceptance. Our own Luke Schultheis discussed the possibility of Hilton being a mentor to Dorsett, or is he too mad to do so?

Colts punter Pat McAfee will be driving a pace car for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis this weekend.

Here is some of the best coverage of DeflateGate and the Wells Report:

Stephen Holder at the IndyStar thinks the Colts’ steps before the AFC Championship Game should have prevented all of this mess. Here at Horseshoe Heroes, Schultheis thinks it could have been easily prevented as well.

Bob Kravitz, who initially broke the DeflateGate story, took a bit of a victory lap over at WTHR.com. He takes shots at the Boston media who sound an awful lot like they were employees of the Pats. Kravitz wasn’t the only one attacked by Pats fans either, his family suffered as well and there is really no place for that kind of behavior.

Mike Freeman over at Bleacher/Report has been doing a great job covering the Wells Report fallout. His sources told him that the Patriots history of cheating made them targets in the NFL. He also delved into the psychology of cheating and why two of the best in the business would continue to do so.

Manny Randhawa at IndyStart pulled some of the best clips from DeflateGate from around the web. Its full of some of the best hot takes from the sporting world.
