Analysis: The 5’9″, 174 pound Mitchell is a bit undersized, but was highly productive as a member of the Cornhuskers. Last season, Mitchell recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes deflected, and 1 interception in 13 games.
At his pro day, he ran a 4.50 forty time and boasted a vertical jump of 35.5 inches.
The Colts could still use a 5th cornerback with veterans Vontae Davis, Greg Toler, and Darius Butler having solidified spots atop the depth chart, even with the addition of D’Joun Smith early in this year’s draft. Mitchell will likely have to look to make his mark on special teams to make the team’s roster, but could be elevated on the Colts cornerback depth chart should an injury arise.
