Round 7 Compensatory Pick – 255th Overall:

C. <div class=. OT. Mars Hill 7th Rd - 255th Overall Pick. DENZELLE GOOD

Analysis: Ah.. the second to last pick of the NFL draft. I consider this pick to be more irrelevant than the actual Mr. Irrelevant chosen at #256. Why you might ask? Because at least Mr. Irrelevvant gets a week of catered events and interviews while the guy before him is just plain irrelevant.

This was especially showcased this year because even Mike Mayock was stumped by the selection. With the 255th pick Ryan Grigson chose to go after a prospect found in one of his kick-over-every-rock scouting visits. The selection: Division II Mars Hill Offensive Tackle Denzelle Goode.

There is a reason there is a twitter video instead of a photo or video for Good, as NFL.com did not even have a draft profile on him. Good transferred from NC State to Mars Hill and was a highly recruited athlete heading into college. During the Day 3 Draft RecapGrigson was asked if he took any pleasure in stumping Mike Mayock with their 7th Round selection of Good. His response, “Thats’s the Cherry on top.”

Measurables: At 6’6″ and 339lbs, Denzelle film is nonexistent, but refer to the video above. That was a 330 pound man dunking a basketball after a workout with the Colts coaches and scouts. That has to account for impressive athleticism. Per Grigson, Good attended the Super Regional Combine in Arizona. According to Grigson, Good “had moments of dominance on film at the Division II level.” Grigson was impressed with his dunk after the workout and Good’s Wonderlic score of 30. “There’s a lot there to work with. That’s a pretty nice lump of clay [for our coaches] to work with” said Grigson.

Scheme Fit: There is little I can say than typically the selections at this spot in the draft are usually practice squad/developmental project players. With Good’s athleticism and his high praise from Grigson. you really want to root for the guy to become a household name and a mainstay in Indianapolis for years to come.
