Robert Mathis Makes Best Recruiting Pitch for Colts

Fresh off of Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee making his best recruiting pitch to potential free agent hopefuls, another Colts teammate has now joined him. Colts pass rusher Robert Mathis is now putting on his best salesman hat and is making a personal plea to some of the most highly sought after free agents via Twitter:

Purely informed speculation, but in his first two tweets, it sounds like the “Dark Side” refers to the New England Patriots. The 2nd tweet appears to be a direct reference to New England Patriots All-Pro Safety Devin McCourty, who is the “quarterback of their secondary” by trade. The first may possibly be alluding to their longtime nose tackle Vince Wilfork, a “giant” physically at 6’2″, 325 pounds.

The last two appear to be much more clear and are direct references to wideout Andre Johnson, who wore #80 with the Houston Texans, and of course the Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh, who is specifically mentioned by name.

So far, it’s been an offseason quite like any other for the Colts, as they are armed with ample cap space and have been linked to many high-profile names before free agency has even begun. Their players are now doing their part to help recruit some of the NFL’s best players to the Horseshoe.
