2015 Contract: $585,000
Stats: 18 receptions, 118 yards, 2 touchdowns
PFF Grade: +4.0
The Good:
Doyle is a tremendous blocker. He was rarely utilized in the passing game, but did have a few good contributions. Of the 407 snaps he saw, 282 of them were as a blocker.
Doyle essentially offers more versatility than a traditional fullback and is more in line with what the Colts want to do offensively (or rather, what they should be doing offensively).
The Bad:
Doyle doesn’t offer much in the downfield, but that isn’t what the Colts signed him for. He wasn’t exactly bad at anything this season, but was just used in a limited capacity.
2015 Outlook:
Expect the Colts to utilize Doyle in much the same way next season. He’ll become more valuable if the Colts can figure out what to do at running back and actually establish something resembling a ground attack.
Doyle is also fairly young and could develop into a more dynamic player in the future as well. Plus its always nice to have a local player on the roster.
