Mike Adams

2015 Contract:  Unrestricted Free Agent

Stats: 87 tackles, 5 INTs

PFF Grade: +11.7

The Good:

Adams was tied for most takeaways in the NFL this season with seven. He also had the second highest grade on defense. He was very effective in pass coverage all season long. It was easily Adams best statistical season as a pro and he made the Pro Bowl as a result.

The Bad:

Adams struggled in the AFC Championship game, but that was true of everyone on defense. The biggest knock is that he is 33 years old and could start struggling at any point.

He also struggled a bit in run defense but Adams is more of a coverage safety anyway.

2015 Outlook:

The Colts need to re-sign Adams not only because they need him at safety but because he earned a bigger contract this season. They gave him a small, one-year tryout and he passed with flying colors.

Adams isn’t a long term option at the position and they’ll need to start planning for his replacement, but signing him for the next few years is well worth it given how he played in 2014.
